United Kingdom– A 70-year-old woman almost threw away a fortune. She mistakenly thought that a huge diamond was actually a piece of costume jewelry.
She is known for shopping thrift stores and often buys all kinds of trinkets. She found the 34 carat stone while cleaning up one day. She says she can’t remember where she bought the jewelry and had no idea that the stone was real.
She was about to throw it away when a friend suggested that she have it appraised. Even the appraiser didn’t believe it was real until they pulled out the diamond tester.
Now the stone is going up for auction on November 12th live at Featonby’s, New Castle.
