CONCORD, N.C. (News Release) — Richard Stanchek of Concord tried his luck on a scratch-off ticket at a grocery store and instantly won a $100,000 prize.
Stanchek purchased his $30 Millionaire Maker ticket from the Harris Teeter on South Sharon Amity in Charlotte. He claimed his prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $70,759.
Millionaire Maker is the first game to offer 30 $1 million prizes along with 10 $100,000 prizes. So far 20 people have won $1 million prizes in the game and five have won $100,000.
Ticket sales from scratch-offs like Millionaire Maker make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $900 million a year for education. For details on how $14.7 million raised by the lottery made a difference in Cabarrus County in 2020, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.
