CMPD: Detectives Investigate Fatal 3-Car Pile Up Near Charlotte Airport

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives are investigating a fatal 3-car pile up that occurred just off of Billy Graham Parkway in west Charlotte Wednesday morning.

Police say one driver died, one driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, and the last driver involved was uninjured and remained on the scene after the crash.

Officers say they responded to the incident shortly before 10 a.m. on November 10th, after receiving reports of a serious injury crash on Billy Graham Parkway.

When they arrived at the scene, officers say they found a 2017 Nissan Sentra with heavy front-end damage, a 2003 Ford Ranger with front and rear damage, and a 2013 Nissan Rogue with minor rear-end damage caused by the crash.

Medic also arrived on the scene to transport the driver of the Nissan Sentra, 83-year-old Allen McRae, to the hospital, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Officers say the driver of the Ford Ranger, 63-year-old Dennis Talley, was also taken by medic to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the driver of the Nissan Rogue, 44-year-old Victoria Jimenez, was uninjured and remained on the scene.

Initial investigation reveals that both the Ford Ranger and Nissan Rogue were stopped at a red light in the same lane on Billy Graham Parkway at West Boulevard when the Nissan Sentra, also traveling in the same lane, failed to stop and collided into the rear of the Ford Ranger.

Detectives say this caused the Ford Ranger to hit the back of the Nissan Rouge.

Police say after the Nissan Sentra collided with the Ford Ranger, the Nissan Sentra veered to the right side of the road and struck a utility pole.

The leading cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Police ask anyone with additional information on the collision to call Detective Oberer at 704-432-2169, extension 1, or to leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or http://charlottecrimestoppers.com/.
