CMPD: Fifth Suspect Charged With Murder In Southwest Charlotte Shooting


The Latest (9/21/21):

Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives have charged two more suspects with murder in the fatal southwest Charlotte shooting of a 22-year-old, bringing the total number of accused to five.

Through an investigation, police identified 24-year-old Deneirrean Brake and 26-year-old Deandre Brake as suspects for the murder of Terrik Roddey, and warrants were issued for their arrest.

The suspects were located and arrested Tuesday without incident. After an interview with homicide detectives, both suspects were transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with murder, two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling and two counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle, according to police.

CMPD Detectives have charged a third suspect with murder in the fatal southwest Charlotte shooting of 22-year-old Terrik Roddey.

25-year-old Joseph Truesdale was identified as the third suspect in the homicide case, and detectives arrested him without incident on August 26th.

Following an interview with detectives, police say Truesdale was taken into custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with murder, two counts of discharging a barreled weapon or firearm into occupied property, two counts of discharging a barreled weapon or firearm into occupied conveyance in operation, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Update (8/19/21):

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has charged a second suspect with murder in the fatal southwest Charlotte shooting of a 22-year-old.

After a continued investigation, detectives identified 22-year-old Cyrene Wilson-Johnson as a suspect in the homicide case of Terrik Roddey and warrants were issued for his arrest.

Police said the suspect was arrested Thursday without incident. Following an interview, Wilson-Johnson was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with murder, two counts of discharging a barreled weapon or firearm into occupied property, and two counts of discharging a barreled weapon or firearm into occupied conveyance in operation, Charlotte police said.

The Latest (8/12/21):

A 26-year-old man has been charged with murder after a victim was found fatally shot in southwest Charlotte Friday evening, according to police.

Through an investigation, Christian Elijah Boetius was identified by detectives as the suspect in the homicide case of Terrik Roddey.

Boetius was arrested by officers without incident for an unrelated warrant Thursday. He was interviewed by Homicide Detectives after his arrest.

According to police, Boetius was then transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with murder, two counts of discharging a barreled weapon or firearm into occupied property, and two counts of discharging a barreled weapon or firearm into occupied conveyance in operation.

Original Story (8/6/21):

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives are investigating a homicide after a person was shot and killed in southwest Charlotte on Friday.

Officers responded to the shooting before 6 p.m. on Holliswood Court to find a victim with an apparent gunshot wound.

Detectives say the victim, identified as 22-year-old Terrik Roddey, was pronounced dead at the scene.
