CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Hickory High School will now use metal detectors at home varsity football games.
In a letter to parents and on the school’s website, the district’s superintendent, Dr. Bryan Taylor, cited recent violence including school shootings in North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee.
The school will also limit fan access to certain areas of the stadium and students in K-8 cannot attend a high school game unless they’re with someone 18 and up.
