Man Found Fatally Shot In Woods In Front Of Mobile Home in Lancaster

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. — The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after a man was found fatally shot in the woods Tuesday morning.

Deputies were dispatched around 8:30 a.m. to a Lancaster mobile home, located on Deason Lane, after a report of a disturbance and gunfire. Upon arrival, they located a 38-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound in the woods across the dirt road from the house.

Responding deputies rendered aid until EMS personnel arrived at the scene and treated the unidentified man. Emergency aid was unsuccessful and the man died at the scene, according to officials.

Through an investigation by the sheriff’s office, which included witness statements, detectives believe that both the deceased man and another person at the mobile home were armed and both fired their weapons.

No arrests have been made in this case.

“This incident just occurred, and the investigation is in its early stages,” Sheriff Barry Faile said. “Although several people were present and we believe they will be able to give us a full accounting of what happened, it will take our investigators some time to thoroughly interview them, process the scene, and collect the evidence. We will release more information as it becomes available and when it is appropriate to do so.”
