CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Prepare for sticker shock when you go shopping for Thanksgiving dinner.
Prices are up and some key items could be harder to find this year, due to high demand and supply chain issues.
At the Giant Penny grocery store in East Charlotte, co-owner Billy Tran says turkey prices are up 20 to 30 percent over last year.
“When we ordered them, the price, we were shocked,” Tran says.
He says some shipments arrive with half of what he’s ordered.
Shopper Katina Price says she made the switch to Cornish hens this year, instead of a turkey.
“It’s pricey as well, but not as pricey,” she says.
